About Woodstock Harley-Davidson

Founded in 1975, Woodstock Harley-Davidson was the dream of Roy Dordick, a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast who’d spent his spare time working on bikes since the late ‘60s. His “tinkering” became “customizing” when he started a chrome-plating business. Later, he and his wife, Janice, obtained their own Harley-Davidson dealership and located it just outside the town of Woodstock, New York. Roy’s passion for motorcycles had become his career. Together they grew the business, with Janice working the office and counter sales as Roy continued to wield a mechanic’s wrench.

The tragedy of Roy’s death in a plane crash in the summer of 1982 forced Janice to make the kind of decision that no spouse wants to contemplate in a time of bereavement—what to do with the dealership. With two daughters to raise on her own, she faced an uncertain future. In time, it was the day-by-day work of paying the bills and serving the customers that made her decision obvious. She would continue the business that she and Roy had started together, and it would grow to become the prosperous dealership that now stands at 949 Rt. 28, outside Kingston, New York.

The original location, a small shop in the shadow of Overlook Mountain on Rt. 212, was soon outgrown. By 1994, Janice and her daughter, Kim Rose, realized this original facility no longer met the needs of their customers. The building they moved to in 1995 more than doubled the space they’d previously occupied, allowing them to hire more employees, service more bikes and generally offer a broader line of Harley-Davidson® merchandise. With customer satisfaction being their primary commitment, Janice and Kim have developed a dealership that now requires 30 full and part-time employees to maintain an exceptional buying and service experience. As the Harley-Davidson Motor Company geared up to celebrate its 100th anniversary—an incredible milestone by any industry standard—and just five years after their first relocation, Woodstock Harley-Davidson moved again, this time just up the road and into a beautiful 21,000 square foot building. Here the impeccable showroom highlights the motorcycles, clothing and accessories that Harley-Davidson riders have come to expect. This facility is set up for easy customer access to service, and it lends itself well to dealership and H.O.G. events, too, with its large parking lot on both sides of the building. On any sunny Saturday, motorists traveling in and out of the Catskills on Rt. 28 will see the dealership crowded with bikes and bikers enjoying an outdoor celebration, complete with food and music and general camaraderie.

The entire management and staff at Woodstock Harley-Davidson are proud to be a part of the Harley-Davidson legend, and invites you to come in to experience it for yourself—whether you ride a Harley® or just have the dream. Woodstock Harley-Davidson is a dealership where dreams come true.

Janice recruited Kim to join her in running the business in 1990. Since then, Kim’s responsibilities have expanded, and her passionate commitment to making Woodstock Harley-Davidson the best full-service dealership it can be has recently been rewarded with the succession of ownership. As Janice steps out of the picture—to enjoy her five grandchildren, watch ships float down the Hudson River from her flower-covered deck and maybe ride her own motorcycle into a gorgeous Catskill sunset now and then—she is confident that, under Kim’s well-honed business sense and expertise, Woodstock Harley-Davidson will continue to provide its valued customers with the quality of merchandise and service they deserve.
